House Manager

Overall Purpose of Job:
To ensure that persons served by the agency have the supports and opportunities which encourage individual growth and enable them to participate fully in their life, their home and the greater community. To provide leadership to support professionals that promotes the person centered philosophy of the agency. To meet the requirements of state or federal regulations governing licensed group homes.

Main activities and tasks:

Team Participation

  • Attends, participates in regular management team meetings and ensures accurate and timely delivery of information to support professionals and residents if applicable.
  • Participates in and contributes to agency committees and encourages support professionals to do the same.
  • Willingness to attend recommended trainings and professional development seminars and conferences, with a commitment to continuous enhancement of support and supervisory skills.
  • Is knowledgeable regarding SARAH Tuxis policies, procedures and personnel practices.
  • Has working knowledge of applicable state and federal systems effecting the individual e.g. DMR, DSS, Social Security, HUD, etc.
  • Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates team leadership
  • Models the agency’s person-centered philosophy
  • Orients new employees
  • Supervises, builds competencies, supports all staff and addresses performance concerns.
  • Meets individually with support professionals for the purpose of supervision and skill building on a monthly basis
  • Conducts evaluations of support professionals in accordance with Tuxis personnel policy
  • Facilitates mandatory staff meetings on a monthly basis
  • Informs and receives support from the Director of Administrative Support Services
  • Outcome Planning:

  • Participates in the outcome planning process and attends related meetings
  • Works in partnership with others in creating opportunities for individuals who receive services to have choices, reach toward dreams, and to achieve personal outcomes.
  • Ensures necessary documentation of outcomes as specified in support strategies.
  • Ensures that quarterly and annual reports are completed in a timely manner, and submitted to the Support Facilitators one week prior to the meeting date.
  • Willing to accept direction from the individuals receiving services
  • Health and Well being:

  • Is proactive regarding matters of health and safety
  • Assures that any known health or safety matter affecting the individual is responded to in a timely and responsible fashion
  • Ensures that medical appointments are attended, medications given, and other delegated medical tasks completed.
  • Completes all necessary documentation regarding medical, behavioral, dietary, therapeutic supports
  • Assures that personal care needs are met
  • Ensures that necessary documentation is collected and presented for review by Program Review Committee.
  • Household Management

  • Prioritizes and documents needed repairs to the house and its vehicle to ensure the safety of each.
  • Schedules and maintains necessary annual certificates
  • Meets regulations of DMR licensing survey and any other required certifications.
  • Financial Management

  • Ensures that fiscal resources remain within the designated house budget, specifically:
  • Staffing
    Food and household supplies
    Utilities
    Gasoline and van maintenance

  • Assists in prioritizing capital improvements
  • Oversees and ensures accurate and timely communication and reporting regarding personal entitlements, grants or subsidies.
  • Supervises management of all individuals’ funds, including monthly payment of bills while ensuring the individual’s participation in the process.

  • Special Requirements

  • Over 18 years of age
  • Valid Connecticut Driver’s License. May need personal, insured vehicle for transportation of others.
  • Proof of employment eligibility

    Education, Qualifications and/or Special Training

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Able to obtain CPR, First Aid and state Medication Administration certifications.
